Can we all just look at this scene and really think about it for a second?
Natasha is exactly where Bruce and Thor left her, shaking with terror, in the bowels of the Helicarrier. She’s terrified because the Hulk nearly killed her-something she cannot control, cannot talk her way out of or kill or even hurt-was two seconds from smearing her across the wall when Thor showed up.
Remember her reaction when Bruce frightened her at the beginning of the movie? The tears in her eyes? This is something she is desperately afraid of.
And what does Fury say over her comm, to anyone who can hear?
“It’s Barton. He took out our systems. He’s headed for the detention level.”
The detention level. Where Loki, who, not half an hour ago, told Natasha that he was going to force Barton to kill her in all the ways she was terrified of (with a very rape-y flavor as well) , and then once she was dead, he’d kill Clint.
And now Clint is heading for the cell, probably to free Loki.
“Does anybody copy?”
And Natasha hears nothing but static and shouting and she knows that if she follows Clint and she’s too late and he gets Loki free and she shows up that Loki will likely make good on his promises to her. His promises of murder, and torture, and a screaming Clint with blood on his hands.
“This is Agent Romanoff. I copy.”
She’s not going to be late. She’s not going to let Clint get to the detention level, to Loki. She’s not going to let Loki kill Clint, and she’s not going to let Clint kill her. They’ve already been through so much together and she will be damned before she lets some crazy alien with daddy issues off her and her partner and it is not going to happen, not today, because even though she’s not a lab experiment or a billionaire she has one very specific and honed skill set, and that is Fucking People’s Days Up and today has Loki’s name on it.
So she gets up, and she goes.
Because she is Natasha Romanoff, and she’s got a job to do, and woe on the poor soul who gets in the way.

The 27-year-old actress, who played the gun-wielding hero in the film, said she and Marvel Studios have ‘spoken a lot’ about developing a film that follows the heroine’s origin in Russia, reported Ace Showbiz.
“I love her origin story. I think it’s just such a riveting one. It’s just steeped in history and the richness to shoot in Russia, perhaps… I hope that the fans’ voice is loud enough and they want to see a Widow origin story, I know Marvel would be happy to entertain that. We’ve spoken a lot about it,” she said.
